Eps Models of Am-fm Vocoder Output for New Sounds Generations

چکیده
The Phase Vocoder [1] was originally introduced as an alternative approach to speech coding but has won much greater acceptance among the music community as a tool both for sound analysis and composition [2]. Although dormant for some time, there has been a resurgence of interest in AM-FM speech signal descriptions in the last ten years [3], [4]. With the intention of building on some of the new ideas proffered, the aim of this work is to first consider their application to musical signals. It then demonstrates how paramaterisation of the extracted AM-FM information using EPS (Exponential Polynomial Signal) models allows modification of the individual largeand small-grain features of the AM and FM components, thus providing a new way for generating audio effects.

Ce document technique est un complément expérimental et théorique à l’article intitulé "Estimation of frequency for AM/FM models using the phase vocoder framework" (IEEE Trans. on Signal Processing, 2007). Plusieurs propriétés concernant certains estimateurs de fréquences basés sur la transformée de Fourier sont démontrés. La première démonstration concerne le réassignement spectral, et prouve ...

In this paper, the AM{FM modulation model is applied to speech analysis, synthesis and coding. The multiband demodulation pitch tracking algorithm is proposed that produces smooth and accurate fundamental frequency contours. The AM{ FM modulation vocoder represents speech as the sum of resonance signals modeled by their amplitude envelope and instantaneous frequency signals. E cient modeling an...

A natural sound can be described by dynamic changes in envelope (amplitude) and carrier (frequency), corresponding to amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM), respectively. Although the neural responses to both AM and FM sounds are extensively studied in both animals and humans, it is uncertain how they are corepresented when changed simultaneously but independently, as is typic...
متن کاملConcurrent encoding of frequency and amplitude modulation in human auditory cortex: encoding transition.
Complex natural sounds (e.g., animal vocalizations or speech) can be characterized by specific spectrotemporal patterns the components of which change in both frequency (FM) and amplitude (AM). The neural coding of AM and FM has been widely studied in humans and animals but typically with either pure AM or pure FM stimuli. The neural mechanisms employed to perceptually unify AM and FM acoustic ...
